Today Nintendo, The Pokémon Company International and Niantic Labs(developer of virtual reality game, Ingress) announced their collaboration on a new unusual game for mobile devices called Pokémon GO.
Niantic Labs coming into play will help gear start this project since they have a head start in virtual reality in the mobile world scene. According to Pokémon Company, Niantic will be taking charge of developing the software.
Nintendo has built a Bluetooth watch-like Pokédex that gives you a presence in the Pokémon Go world without having to actively use your phone unlike Ingress. If a wild Pikachu is hanging out near you, your Pokédex will notify you using an LED and vibration that there’s a Pokémon ready to be captured. Pokémon Go Plus isn’t essential to playing Pokémon Go, it’s created to enhance your experience.
Unfortunately, Pokémon Company isn’t saying much about the project, however it did mention that the game will be coming out in 2016 and will be free(with In Game Purchase) for iOS and Android users.
Personally, I am excited about this. I am an avid Ingress player and it would be nice to meet people playing the exact same game at the exact same location. Would we be able to interact with other players by trading Pokémons, trainer fight or even exchange tips on how to enhance our game style. Only time will tell. Check out the video below
