Sony Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact launched

Sony just announced the Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact at IFA.

The Sony Xperia Z3 runs on a quad-core 2.5GHz MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 chip, alongside 3GB of RAM and Adreno 330 graphics. The Z3 comes in at 5.2″ 1080p display, just like its predecessor. The Xperia Z3 comes with a metallic frame along with the glass front and rear body. The Z3 features a 3100 mAh battery and is 11 grams lighter than its predecessor. While the camera sensor remains the same at 20.7MP, Sony has added several improvements from their Cybershot line that the company hopes will result in better shot quality. As before, the Xperia Z3 will be waterproof, and has an IP65/68 rating.

Color options include the standard black and white, as well as the impressive silver-green and copper variants.

Sony Xperia Z3 Compact comes with a smaller screen diagonal at 4.6″ – larger than the 4.3″ of the Xperia Z1 Compact. The screen resolution remains at 720p, however, and the RAM has been downgraded to 2GB. The battery have been improved from 2300 mAh to 2600 mAh. The compact handset also features the same large 20.7MP 1/2.3” Exmor RS sensor as in the Z3.

Sony has also managed to further protect the gadget from water and dust, gracing it with the IP 65/68 rating. This means you can submerge your phone in fresh water of up to 5 feet (1.5m) for as long as 30 minutes without harming it.

The Z3 Compact is set to come in more vibrant colors than the Xperia Z3, offering green and orange besides the standard black and white.
