Rejoice, owners of the Elephone Trunk (or ARK Benefit A3), for the first ever build of CyanogenMod 13 has arrived! Let’s take a look.
Thanks to 4PDA, XDA, and Elephone BBS member NFound, we now have a stable and almost fully working build of CyanogenMod 13 available for our devices. As the Elephone Trunk is also very similar to the ARK Benefit A3, the ROMs are actually directly interchangeable, thus the ROM will have the properties of the ARK Benefit A3, while also being compatible for the Elephone Trunk. With that said though, having a CyanogenMod 13 build (especially since it’s already 6.0.1, Google’s latest revision to the newest Android flavour) on a device from a Chinese OEM is quite rare, especially in the case of OEMs like Elephone that mainly sell MediaTek devices.
The latest build at the time of writing is the 13 December build, and it is safe and stable enough for daily use. There are some bugs though, and they will be listed at the end of this post. Do check out the original thread here to download and flash it. NFound has also provided instructions on how the ROM should be flashed. The ROM can also be rooted by flashing SuperSU over it.
- Extreme lag on initial setup – goes away after some time
- Lock screen shortcuts cannot be changed
- Flashlight toggle doesn’t show – it’ll show randomly until a reboot
- FM Radio doesn’t work
- Gaming performance is slightly less than desirable
