OEMs like UleFone and Jiayu are really getting into the flagship game recently, and are releasing newer version of Android (i.e. 5.0) for end-users all around the world. However, there is one that stands out – Elephone. Elephone has not only pushed out newer ROMs for their customers, but also various custom ROMs like CyanogenMod 12 and MIUI. Their recently announced Elephone P7000 also proved to be a major flagship killer, with its back panel touch fingerprint sensor, and the octa-core MT6752 chipset.

On the other hand, their other recently announced (albeit silently through their partners) Elephone S1, has stirred up some buzz on various smartphone sites like GizChina, and their forum itself. The device was nicknamed the ‘Halo’ previously, and has now been renamed the S1. The S1 is basically a normal smartphone, but with a rear panel that lights up with various colours, and apparently also follows the music playback on the device.
It will be interesting to see what happens next with this device, as some may view it as being gimmicky, while others may like the fact that a rear panel that lights up will look really futuristic, or even cool.
