Elephone P7000 to Use IMX214 Afterall?

Recently, there has been a public outrage over the news of Elephone apparently not going to use the IMX214, but the IMX135 in some of its P7000 devices. They have done this before in a previous device, but this time apparently they’ve confirmed that all shipped P7000s will use the IMX214 camera, which is capable of shooting 4K videos. This should show an increase in camera quality in the P7000 too.

Android 5.1 and MediaTek

When you talk about Chinese smartphones, most people would see them as being slow, clones of other devices, or generally not usable. However, that may just be wrong as OEMs like Elephone show that MediaTek devices can indeed perform and get updates. Elephone has released the following video showing Android 5.1 running on the yet to be released P4000: As you may already know, Elephone has already released an albeit stable but may-be-unstable Android 5.0 ROM for the P6000, and have already begun building custom ROMs for their other newer devices. As MediaTek sources are extremely hard to work with, it is certainly an impressive feat (MediaTek themselves couldn’t get Android 5’s sources to work). What do you think?
