At CES, events may not be mobile-centric like it happens at MWC but still it could bring some thrills and prills along with it. Here’s what to expect from some major smartphone players :
HTC had already sent invites for a press conference at CES on Jan 5 but we don’t expect it to unveil the next flagship just yet because the invite itself is asking us to ‘Always Desire More’. Did you see it coming?
We can expect some entry-level or midranger smartphones with the Desire moniker at the event from HTC. Sure, HTC did tease “huge surprises that will blow you away” for 2015, but we’ve got a whole lot of year left for that.
As far as the wearables are concerned, they could well be on the cards for the Taiwanese smartphone maker. Just looking at that round shape on the invite…
This could well be a quiet CES from the South Korean giant, atleast when it comes to smartphones. But we could end-up seeing a couple of new series in terms of Galaxy J and E series. Also, the previously leaked 5.5″ smartphone could well be on the cards as well.
SAMSUNG Galaxy S6? Probably not…coz Kim Hyun-suk, Samsung’s head of visual display, was quoted as saying “there will be no surprise shows [at CES].”
LG could be your biggest bet as far as the high-end devices are concerned because the South Korean is expected to unveil the latest iteration in the LG G Flex series. Apart from that, nothing bigger. Look to MWC for that.
Sony always comes out swinging at CES, and we expect this year to be no different.
They also have a teaser for the CES 2015: http://youtu.be/6gC_NIVpXf4
Among other big OEMs, Sony have the best possibility of delivering something high-end. Maybe the Xperia Z4 line-up? Well, we have to wait and see….
